Ria Farrell Schalnat
Ria Farrell Schalnat assumed the role of General Counsel and Director of Intellectual Property for Vora Ventures, after fifteen years of law firm practice in intellectual property.
Prior to joining Vora Ventures, Ria practiced law at Dinsmore & Shohl for two years and Frost Brown Todd for 13 years. She provided counsel, advice and representation to numerous clients and specialized in patent portfolio management and prosecution, intellectual property due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and computer technology licensing. Her technology practice built on her undergraduate degree in Computer Science and work experience as a computer programmer and ranged across billing, data management, customer relationship management, and speech technology. applications. She earned her law degree in 1999 from the University of Dayton School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude. She has been admitted to practice law in Ohio since 1999 and is also admitted by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. While in private practice, Ria served for two years as President of CincyIP, a local bar association dedicated to intellectual property education. Her love of education also extended to serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati School of Law and University of Dayton School of Law on subjects including Patent Litigation, Cyberspace Law an Open Source Licensing.
